One month until the start of Appenninica MTB stage race 2020
One month to the start carries excitement, happiness, and a dot of trepidation. Riders will face 450 km and 16.000 mt of elevation gain over the 7 stages. The list of participants with their race numbers will be published on the website next week. They will be approximately 70 from all corners of Europe but unfortunately riders coming from other continents had to postpone to 2021.
We want to recognize the hard work of all of the amazing Appenninica team that has worked to get to this point and they cannot wait for the actual event. A huge thank you goes also to all of our partners and sponsors. One above all: Parmigiano Reggiano. The race will take place on the heights that house the dairy farms that produce Parmigiano Reggiano Mountain Product (Prodotto di Montagna) and reaches the province of Parma that with Reggio Emilia shares the largest portion of the production area. An outstanding territory that luckily offers plenty of MTB trails.
The Race itself
We are very proud of this year's stages. Not only they are challenging and rewarding but also nicely spaced out between long days and technical days. We promise fun and pain, equally. Riders will be professionals and amateurs and all part of the Appenninica family for this bonding week. We'll have several Italians fighting for the podium in both the Men and Women category. They will battle with some of the best athletes in the world including Olympians and World champions and several have been on the top of the podium in international mountain bike stage races.
Following the Race
Unless you can be on the race course or at one of the towns hosting Appenninica, the best way is to follow the daily updates on social media with interviews, photos, and stage recap videos. Each rider will carry a SeTeTrack GPS tracker and anyone from home can follow the race via computer or smartphone app. Links will available on the website.
We are putting the finishing touches to the 2020 Rider Guide that can be dowloaded and used as a reference on the unfolding of the race week.
COVID Prevention
We are working tirelessly at the prevention measures and protocols. No aspect will be overlooked but we ask for the collaboration of everyone involved. We have to work as a team against Covid.
If you still need to REGISTER you have until Monday, August 31st.
