The Countdown is on: 4 weeks till the TOUR Transalp

800 kilometres and 18.900 meters of elevation, spread over seven stages from Innsbruck in Austria to Lake Garda in Italy: Up to 1,000 ordinary cycling enthusiasts will have the chance to participate in the TOUR Transalp from 23rd -29th June 2019. The registration is still open. For those who always wanted to experience the TOUR Transalp, but don’t feel confident about riding the whole race, can book the tester session: This way you can either attend only the first or the first two stages. Registration deadline for the tester session is 11th of June
The 17th edition of the legendary cycling stage race is starting in four weeks. For the first time in TOUR Transalp history, also single starters get the permission to take up the challenge. Another novelty: For the first time the race will start in the city of Innsbruck, last year`s setting of the UCI Road World Championships. Equally world class is the course of the TOUR Transalp 2019. Innsbruck is followed by the Italian stage locations Brixen, Kaltern, Bormio, Livigno, Aprica, Ossana and finally Riva del Garda as the destination. Course director Marc Schneider has developed a challenging and varied course with new passes and spectacular mountain views. After the short start across the Brenner Pass, the participants can look forward to several highlight, such as the extravagant Gavia Pass, the spectacular Umbrail Pass and one of the most scenic Alpine passes, the Bernina Pass. For the first time in the history of the Transalp the Penser Joch is part of the route.

The field of participants is very diverse and full of interesting stories. Each year up to 1,000 riders from more than 30 nations face the Transalp challenge. Probably the oldest rider at this year`s stage race is the German Klaus Wermker with an impressive age of 76 years. There is also a celebrity: The passionate cyclist and tv moderator Annika Zimmermann (GER) is taking part in the event. Further there is a team with a special mission: Two guys from South Africa have undertaken to ride the TOUR Transalp on wooden bikes.
