SHIMANO E-MOUNTAINBIKE Experience

2019/09/23 - 2019/09/27

The 2019-edition unfortunately has been cancelled

Get the date in your diary! On Monday 16 October 2017 registration opens for the second edition of the SHIMANO E — MOUNTAINBIKE Experience. More than seven months before the event itself, participants can secure their place on the start line and book accommodation for this multi-day e-bike adventure across South Tyrol, Italy. Lasting from 29 May until 2 June 2018, the SHIMANO E — MOUNTAINBIKE Experience will once again see riders take on the most beautiful trails in the Alps from the village of Naturns/Naturno to the finish line in Sexten/Sesto using the latest electric-powered bikes from the world’s leading manufacturers. A new feature for 2018 is the prologue on 29 May in Naturns/Naturno. Under the guidance of professional experts, participants will ride a short loop to test their fitness and choose the group which best suits them. The next day the gun goes in Naturns/Naturno for a unique riding challenge concluding in Sexten/Sesto in the heart of the Dolomites.

How fit am I? How fit is my partner? Which e-mountainbike is the right one for me? Which riding group best suits my ability? How can I improve my bike-handling skills with the help of an expert? All these questions will be answered during the prologue on 29 May in Naturns/Naturno. Under the watchful eye of professional bike guides and E-MTB specialists, participants will be split up into four groups based on their riding ability and fitness level. The idea behind the prologue is to ensure that everyone can enjoy the 200km adventure from Naturns/Naturno via Meran/Merano, Sarnthein/Sarentino, Brixen/Bressanone, Bruneck/Brunico to the finish line in Sexten/Sesto at a pace which suits them.

There are simple but good reasons for dividing riders into several groups. First and foremost, the SHIMANO E — MOUNTAINBIKE Experience is not a race. Instead, it has been designed as a fun e-bike adventure combining great food, great company and great riding on some of South Tyrol’s most beautiful trails. At the end of each day riders will stay in a beautiful mountain village where they can look forward to not only a warm welcome but also a selection of traditional delicacies from that particular region.

Once riders have been divided into groups during the prologue, the adventure begins in earnest. Led by a team of professional bike guides, each group will ride the trails at its own pace and stop for lunch in a traditional hut. The culinary highlights continue in the evening, with each village serving selection of food typical of the region. When it comes to the bikes themselves, participants are welcome to test models from nine of the world’s leading e-bike manufacturers. Bikes can be selected and reserved two weeks before the start of the event, from 15 May 2018. And, last but not least, a team of friendly Shimano mechanics will be on hand throughout the adventure to carry out any repairs and provide tips on how to get the most out of each bike.

As in 2017 we are once again offering an all-inclusive package with accommodation for the duration of the event. Participants can choose between 3-star and 4-star hotel options. A special family package is also available. Local riders from South Tyrol who wish to take part in the SHIMANO E — MOUNTAINBIKE Experience without booking accommodation are also welcome to do so.
