Bad Goisern; For the 25th anniversary, 2,500 mountain bikers from 30 different nations once again made the region around Lake Hallstättersee a hotspot for the biker scene in perfect weather.

Already at the riders' presentation the day before, Konny Looser, who was also crowned Swiss Marathon Champion 2022 a few weeks ago, was declared the favourite for the extreme distance over 213 km and 7,059 m of altitude. 430 bikers then tackled the extreme distance at 5 a.m. on marathon day.

Just after half of the race, a trio consisting of Konny Looser (SUI/Stoll-Racing powered by ETL-GDS), Tyrolean Philip Handl (Team Texpa Simplon) and Matthias Alberti (GER/KTM Factory MTB Team) settled at the head of the field. At the notorious Hallstätter Salzberg, Handl and Alberti could no longer keep up the pace of the Swiss and lost two minutes by the top station. Looser continuously extended his lead until the finish and made his fifth victory in the Salzkammergut perfect with a lead of almost 10 minutes.

Konny Looser: "Making the most of the moment!"

"During the climb up the mount Salzberg I noticed that my two competitors had to reduce the pace a bit, whereas I was able to use my reserves optimally. But 5 victories in this extreme race are simply incredible! So much can happen during 213 kilometres!" said Looser at the finish. Second place went to Matthias Alberti with a time of 9:44:49 ahead of Philip Handl (9:57:17). Styrian David Schöggl (Pure HUMANPWR KTM) came fourth, best Upper Austrian Lukas Kaufmann seventh.

8 ladies started the race!

In the women's race, 8 bikers also started at 5 am. After 12 hours and 16 minutes, Barbara Mayer (RC ARBÖ SK VÖEST) from Linz won with a lead of more than 18 minutes over Veronika Weiß from Germany. Third place went to Celine Trommer (GER), fourth to Jan Zidekova (CZE).

Winner of the B-course: Milena Kalasova (CZE) and Michael Holland (AUT)!

In the women's race, victory went to the Czech Republic. The winner of the extreme distance of 2014 and 2015, Milena Kalasova, won ahead of Bianca Somavilla from Tyrol and Anna Bicskei from Hungary.
