The Titan Desert is postponed until October following an increase in Covid-19 cases in Morocco

16/04/2021 – The 16th edition of the Titan Desert will finally take place between 10-15 October 2021. A rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in Morocco, due to the British and South African strains of the virus, has obliged us to take this decision.

After recent conversations with the Government of Morocco and in the light of the measures taken in the African country such as the extension of the State of Alarm, the organization has decided to postpone the event, which would have taken place from 23-28 May this year.
Despite the change to October, the Titan Desert will have the same format and route planned for May, with a total of 640 kilometres and an elevation gain of 7,600+ metres over the 6 stages. The 500+ participants who signed up for this edition will keep their race number (bib) for the new dates. However, thanks to the ‘Covid Guarantee’ they can request a refund of their entry fee if the new dates are not convenient for them.

The Titan Desert is a mountain bike race that has been held since 2006 in the desert of Morocco. Organized by Titan World Series (RPM-MKTG and ASO), the race returns this year to its country of origin after passing through Almería in 2020, due to the pandemic.

“We came back from Morocco six weeks ago after holding meetings with the Moroccan authorities and the Spanish Embassy. Everyone welcomed us and gave us guarantees that the Titan Desert could be held in May this year, unless the situation changed. We now have to tell you that we must postpone the event”. “We have decided to go for Plan B, which we had already prepared and published on the website, to change the dates of the Titan Desert from May to 10-15 October”. “We were unhappy at having to change because we had been working on the event for months, and the participants had also been training for a long time, but we have to work under safety standards and cannot improvise situations at the last minute that could end up being critical. This is why we have taken this decision now”.
