The ROTTA DEL SALE BIKE EXPERIENCE is a new cycling event organized by CERVIA TURISMO in collaboration with the sports agency of Bolzano, Bike & More. The event follows the permanent Rotta del Sale bike trail, which starts in Cervia and ends in Venice after 278 km, passing the Po Delta Park in Emilia-Romagna and the Veneto region. The route joins the traditional salt route by sea, where for centuries historic boats have been sailing with their loads of salt from the salt works in Cervia to the Serenissima (Venice).
The route passes through protected areas of great value, such as the pine forests of Ravenna, the mouth of the Bevano, the valleys of Comacchio, the oasis of Volano, the forest of Mesola, the valleys of the Veneto Delta and the Venice Lagoon, touching the towns of Ravenna, Comacchio and Chioggia, from where, by bike and some ferries between Pellestrina and the Lido di Venezia, you finally reach the lagoon city of Venice. The Po Delta, a humid environment unique in Europe, where hundreds of birds live and nest, including herons and pink flamingos, where land and water alternate with breathtaking views and great silence, where wild horses and deer run free through the pine forests and where unique gastronomic specialties offer distinctive flavors.
Join the 1st edition of the Rotta del Sale Bike Experience from September, 30th to October 3rd, 2021. It is a 4-day bike tour (278 km total length) ideal for participants with trekking bikes, but also very special for e-bikes. It is a stress-free bike tour, cycling in a group with a guide through this magnificent area, without neglecting personal space. The Rotta del Sale Bike Experience offers you all the basic services, such as luggage transport, accommodation, refreshment stations, GPX data, services that make a bike tour easier and safer, so all participants, also thanks to the mechanical assistance, can look forward to a unique journey of discovery in nature.
In 4 stages there are 278 Km to do, on an easy and accessible route, without technical difficulties, a flat route on dirt roads with little traffic, small paths, bike paths and partly also on asphalt roads, ideal for mountain bike, trekking - and gravel bikes, but also with e-bikes! We ride along the sea, through pine forests and over headlands, on the right and left the sea, always in the middle of nature. Take advantage of our services such as luggage transport, refreshments and accommodation and much more. Fun is also had with the various ferry crossings from island to island! The planned stage locations are Cervia, Comacchio, Porto Tolle, Chioggia and Venice.
