| Location. The stony bed of the Tagliamento and Meduna Rivers and the mountains of the Carnic Pre-Alps, around the Plain of Friuli, are the TILIMENT MARATHON BIKE 2009 location. The Tagliamento River is the main watercourse in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It can be considered the last Alpine river in Europe which is more or less in a natural condition, with its rushing waters, so mysterious and primeval, as the Meduna River. The vast landscape, from the plains to 1.100 meters above sea level, offers a striking race itinerary, practicable by car or on foot (the Hill Manzon, the first tops of the Mount Ciaurlec). The natural environment is partly protected, the typical flora prefers semi-arid environments and the leading role of the fauna is played by the wild boar and the roe. In the plain, between the two rivers Tagliamento and Meduna, arises the city of Spilimbergo (northern Italy, near Pordenone/Udine) with its rich and magnificent past represented in the frescos of the Castle and the Cathedral, in the house facades, in the late-medieval and in the Renaissance old town centre. Spilimbergo is the vital and economical centre of the piedmont, where rise ancient historical sites as Travesio, Castelnovo, Lestans, Sequals, Valeriano and Pinzano, in which are keeping works of artists as Pordeone, Amalteo and Pilacorte and the stone working. | The race LThe Sports Club Trivium of Spilimbergo will organised a MTB COMPETITON of international level with the aim of tourism and sports promotion in Spilimbergo and sourroundings. The race is inserted in two Mountain Bike sports event challenges called “Alpen International MTB Tour” and “Alpe Adria Tour”. The “Alpen International MTB Tour” race includes 5 races (3 in Italy, 1 in Austria and 1 in Swizzerland) promoted by “Bike & More” sport agency of Bolzano in partnership with local promoters. The aim of these sports events is the eco-compatibility of competitors and sponsor towards environment and nature. “Alpe Adria Tour” is a national race that enumerates noted races as “Fondo Città di Pordenone”, “Gran Fondo d’Europa”, “Carnia Classic Zoncolan” and “Corsa per Haiti”. The race is promoted by the sport association „Amici dell’UDACE“. | |
| On Saturday there will be in Spilimbergo also a MTB KIDS RACE with a length of 1.570 m for young and children organized by the Sports Club Trivium. The routes include dirt roads and paths of plain and mountain in the locations of Spilimbergo, Sequals, Travesio, Castelnovo del Friuli, Pinzano al Tagliamento. There will be also a two days bike exhibition near the starting points and the finishing lines of the competitions. |  |
| The Tiliment Marathon Bike offers two routes with start on Sunday: the main route (pink colour on the map): of 95 Km / 1570 m change in altitude, along exposed gravely river bed and along the levees of Tagliamento, Meduna and Cosa Rivers, along the plains of Castelnovo and Sequals and on the slopes of Monte Ciaurlec. These is a technical route with about 20 km of stones and water, single-tracks and various ups and downs in a scrub. Suitable for good preparedl mountainbikers. The shorter route (green colour on the map): 50 Km with 300 m change in altitude. The route is relatively rapid and it is suitable for amateurs, excursionists, and for juniores. | |

COURSES 100 km with 1900 m change in altitude - valid for Alpen International Tour PARTICIPATION The participation is opened to all the athletes that are regularly members of the Italian Cycling Federation and is recognized by UDACE Italian Cycling Union and council body and to all the foreign athletes that are regularly members of the National Cycling Federations. Alternatively may present valid agonistic medical certificate at the time of enrolment with an extra cost of 5 € for the insurance (Italian Cycling Federation’s law n. 165 of 06/12/2007). | |
INFORMATION / RULES A) The first TILIMENT MARATHON BIKE will take place in compliance with the Italian Cycling Federation and with Italian Cycling Union’s law so it is required the helmet’s use and the observation of the Italian highway code. The enrolment or the collection of the race gift package can be done personally or on behalf of a third party. Follow the racers is not allowed. B) The track area is strictly interdicted to all motor vehicles unless expressly allowed by the organization board. C) Refreshment stops are marked by special notices; do not throw away water-bottles or rubbish outside refreshment-room points penalty of the exclusion from the race. Please inform in case of drop out through the race and specify the race number. | |

| The event is part of a serie of mtb-races, an international race challenge called International Alpen Mtb Tour 2009 - there take place other 2 italian events (Bike Marathon Garda Trentino and the Val di Fassa Bike) an austrian event, the Salzkammergut MTB Trophy, and the swisserland Monte Generoso Bike Marathon, all races are very good organized.
